I draw inspiration from the strong simplicity of Japanese block prints and their frequent use of the long rectangular format. I consider what catches and holds the eye at some physical distance, favoring bright and saturated color.
I entered my eighth decade in 2021. In my working life I have designed and built costumes and sets for theater and dance. I have painted murals and scenery and have designed and mounted retail window displays. All of this work has fed my continuing fascination with painting on a large scale.
